Feral Cats differ from abandoned cats because they are usually quite healthy and are not dependent upon us. They are very adept at finding their own food source and shelter.
Never try to pick up or pet a feral cat!
A True Feral:
Is wild
Avoids human contact
Rarely seen out in the open
Will "hiss" rather than "meow"
Usually travels at night
Appears very healthy
Makes it's home away from human habitats
Will attack if they feel threatened or cornered
Will not eat if human is present
Feral cats live quite well with handicaps as evidenced by this one-eyed cat. Young ones benefit from the program also!
